Nikita Sablier was founded in 2008 by Nikki Hambry from her personal love of retro and vintage clothing. She felt it would be fabulous to have a shop where you can buy everything retro for the perfect pin up look… the lingerie, the clothes, the accessories, even the shoes, bags and coats. We believe that at Nikita Sablier you can do just that!
Over the last few years the brand has evolved adding more of a modern twist but everything is personally sourced by Nikki, and are brands that she believes in and wears on a daily basis.
Our vintage inspired clothing comes from brands such as Bettie Page Clothing for beautiful form fitting dresses, Miss Fortune Clothing and Hearts & Roses for something more rockabilly, Iron Fist for a fun modern twist on classic shapes and sky-scraping heels(!), Friday on My Mind bring a younger feel to our stock with cute ginghams and shorter skirt lengths. We also try to keep a focus on handmade and bespoke clothing with beautiful steel boned corsetry and bridalwear from Angels Carrying Savage Weapons. At Nikita Sablier we love to support local designers and craft makers from Salisbury and the surrounding areas and we stock handmade fascinators from Stunning Fascinators, and other local jewellery and accessory suppliers feature regularly in store. Even our staff have caught the handmade craft bug and you’ll often find Nikki and Aneira in store making greeting cards or sewing small craft items.
Since moving our boutique from London to Salisbury and gaining additional studio space we’ve been able to expand our brand to include so much more than just a clothing store. We are now able to offer burlesque and retro makeovers and photoshoots, together with classes and workshops – all with a retro twist of course! Everything from “How to get the classic pin curls and victory rolls” to burlesque lessons and craft classes too. If you have an idea for a class we’d love to hear from you!
We’re often asked about the shop name… “Sablier” comes from the French word for “Hourglass” and we feel this was very much the feminine shape that ladies strived for in the 1940s/1950s and still reflects on the ladies of today. Nikki tries to source all her stock from brands who have a mutual love of the hourglass figure. With some of brands stocking sizes from XS (approx UK6-8) up to 5XL (approx UK24) we’re bound to find you the perfect outfit and if you’re unsure, please drop us a line and we’ll be happy to help you choose!
If you find yourself in Salisbury, a visit to the Nikita Sablier boutique in the Cross Keys Shopping Centre is a must even if just to choose a track from the Fourties, Fifties or Sixties on our retro jukebox!
We changed from a Sole Trader to a Limited Company in 2012. Our company is Nystart Limited which encompasses Nikita Sablier as a shop and the Studio Space upstairs (Curves Photographic).
